40 minutes CPD/CE

Description

Aims and Objectives:

  • Facially generated smile design and an understanding of the analysis of the face and how this relates to tooth morphology and smile design
  • The 2D morphology of teeth with their shapes and symmetry. This will also cover the influence of different shapes (rectangular, oval or triangular type incisal edges and the influence on the incisal edge, labial surfaces and interproximal areas) and the symmetry of line angle.
  • The 3D morphology of teeth with their space distribution and the position of the incisal edge, and the line angles and proximal views.
  • The secondary and tertiary morphology including the surface texture. She will also cover the lobes and the grooves on the facial surfaces of the buccal facing.
  • The configuration of the mamelon pattern and other internal features are discussed
  • The 4D morphology of the optical depths including the enamel and dentine layering

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this talk, the learner will:

  • Get insight into the analysis of teeth shapes and symmetry and individual features
  • Identify how these features link to the face and the smile
  • Understand smile design in 2D, 3D and 4D
