The other day, I wrote about the hidden costs of what we do. You can read that here. https://www.dentinaltubules.co...
This is an extension of this ...
A crown isn't just a dentist s effort. The crown you place is the effort of:
- A welcome (reception) team that makes the patient feel welcome, comfortable and primed to the right state of mind to ensure a smooth procedure.
- A dental nurse who makes sure the right equipment and materials are laid out, who makes sure that the patient is looked after, who makes sure that the dentist is looked after, who may make sure the notes are in order and who ensures that they are using their full skills as a professional working with the dentist, during the prep and fit.
- A dental technician whose mastery creates this work of art.
- The dentist whose technical skills produce the preparation for that work of art.
- The dental trade whose efforts ensure the right materials and equipment get to you.
Granted some of that team have greater responsibility and maybe need greater technical expertise to deliver the crown but without the efforts of that others, that crown's outcome maybe compromised.
The true cost of a crown is more than just what a dentist did.
Add that to the other hidden costs (highlighted in the previous blog) and a crown is worth a lot more than what we think. The patient is not paying for the crown alone. The patient is paying for the effort of so many people in ensuring that it all works for the health of the patient.
And ofcourse, this crown would like to remain in the mouth for a very very very long time .......
