In this comprehensive, engaging, and interactive workshop, we will deeply
investigate the undeniable influence of purpose and its role in not just attracting, but also
retaining a motivated and committed team within your dental practice. Despite scepticism
around buzzwords like 'purpose', 'mission', 'vision', and 'values', we will collectively dissect
and understand how these elements, when integrated genuinely into your practice, can be
transformative.

1. Demystifying Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Values: We'll start by clarifying these
commonly misunderstood terms. We'll examine their importance, dissect their strengths and
weaknesses, debunk common myths and misconceptions, and set the foundation for
understanding their genuine potential. Activity: We'll engage in a brainstorming and group
discussion activity that allows participants to share their prior understanding and experiences
with these terms. This activity will encourage open dialogue and will help dispel any lingering
misconceptions.

2. Understanding Purpose - Using a Story Framework: We'll delve into the concept of 'purpose' through a straightforward Story Framework to create a ‘Practice Creed’. This will
illustrate how a clear, compelling story can draw patients and inspire team members by
providing a purpose that aligns with their personal values. Activity: Participants will work
through a series of examples from other cultural examples to understand how Story already
exists in many areas.

3. Crafting Your Own Purpose - A Guided First Step: Participants will receive practical,
step-by-step guidance on how to identify and articulate their own practice's purpose,
mission, values, and vision. We will converse about how these elements can serve as
powerful tools to attract, engage, and retain the ideal talent. Activity: Each participant will be
guided through a set of reflective questions to create the beginnings of their own Practice
Creed.’ We'll review these drafts together as a group and provide constructive feedback.

4. Translating your Creed into Culture: We will use the results of the Creed activity to
establish your cultural framework. After an introduction on the essential three foundations,
we will apply your values and key characteristics to construct a simple grid ensuring your
culture is ingrained. Activity: Participants will work on their own cultural framework, and we
will collectively review and discuss the outcomes, promoting a vibrant exchange of ideas and
insights.
