Risk is inherent in anything we do and with the increasing litigation the profession is facing, we need to implement strategies to lower our risk. This can be found by using effective communication skills, achieving informed consent and involving the patients fully in the decision making process. This workshop will address these areas in detail including case scenarios and role play.

Aims and objectives:

  • To help delegates understand the importance of these key areas in risk management 
  • To enable delegates to implement good strategies in relation to communication, consent & shared decision making 
  • To understand the legislation behind all 3 key areas

  • Delegates will be able to apply these principles of Risk management in everyday practice 
  • To become more confident when managing patients especially in high risk situations 
  • To enable clinicians to become more risk averse by implementing these keys areas of risk management
